CHARLES CITY- It’s been nearly two weeks since a Charles City man was injured in a hit and run accident in an alleyway just off of Main Street.

After many medical procedures, victim Robert Lanenga, says he is beginning to heal.

Lanenga was at a local bar enjoying the evening with his fiancée on December 7, when he stepped outside and was backed over by a vehicle.  The person in the vehicle left the scene and Lanenga sustained multiple injuries to his face and arms.

Lanenga says the accident will not keep him down.

Police continue to investigate the accident at this time.  In the meantime, businesses and community members have reached out to help Lanenga who will be unable to work until he is healed.

Lanenga says he is very grateful for everyone’s help.

Charles City Police encourage anyone with information on the accident to come forward.  Police can be reached at 228-3366 or the anonymous tip line at 257-6303.  There is a $1000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
