DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Thousands of Iowa residents seeking to enroll in state health plans for the poor may not have the coverage by Jan. 1.
The Des Moines Register reports Thursday ( ) that federal officials haven’t provided the state with complete information on more than 10,000 people who appear eligible for public coverage for low-income residents, such as Medicaid.
That means that those people, who enrolled through the federal sign-up website as instructed, may not be able to see a doctor in January.
A spokeswoman for the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said they are working to get the proper information to Iowa, though they couldn’t say if it would be there by the end of December.
