Branstad fill judge vacancy in E. Iowa district

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Gov. Terry Branstad has appointed Stuart Palmer Werling as a judge in eastern Iowa’s Seventh Judicial District.

Branstad announced Friday he’d appointed Werling to fill a vacancy by Judge Gary McKenrick.

Werling, of Tipton, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and his law degree from the University of Arkansas. He has been working in private practice and as magistrate for Cedar County.

The seventh district includes Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine and Scott counties.
