Police: 1 killed in shooting at house in Ames

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Police say one person is dead following what has been described as an accidental shooting in Ames.

Police tell Des Moines television station KCCI (http://bit.ly/1l4cRc2) that officers were called to a house on the west side of Ames around 10:30 p.m. Friday and found a male with a gunshot wound to his head.

The injured person was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center, where he died.

Police are interviewing witnesses who were present at the shooting.

Police have not yet released the name and age of the person killed.
