Iowa work-release inmate reported missing

FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Department of Corrections says an inmate has escaped from a work-release facility in Fort Dodge.

The department announced Saturday that 21-year-old Austin Dean Runnells failed to return to the facility from a job-seeking furlough. He was supposed to return Friday. Runnells is serving a 10-year sentence for a willful injury causing bodily injury conviction in Webster County.

The department says Runnells began serving his sentence on June 20, 2012. He was transferred to the work-release facility on Nov. 8. Anyone with information about Runnells is asked to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department or the Webster County Sheriff’s Department.
