Supervisors Consider Funding Requests

CHARLES CITY- Budget talks continue for Floyd County Supervisors.  On Monday, Supervisors heard funding requests from two non-profit groups.  The Charles City Arts Council requested funding in the amount of $4,000.  Arts Council Board member Wendy Johnson says the center would like inform residents of the services offered at the Arts Center as well as conduct more outreach programming throughout the community this year.

Representatives of the Floyd County Community Foundation also asked supervisors for funding in the amount of $10,000.  The $10,000 request comes in at $2,500 more than requested last year due to a shortfall in grant funding.  Marci Andrews with the Community Foundation outlined many of the accomplishments of the organization and says four new endowment funds were established this past year.

Funds provided by supervisors would help pay work costs for Andrews who works to attract additional funds to assist donors in creating lasting legacies through a variety of giving opportunities.

Supervisors say they will consider the requests from each organization during further budget talks.
