Rockford Dam Demolition Underway

Rockford, IA – It’s the end of the line for a 142 year old dam in Rockford.

Crews from Beemer Construction began the process of demolishing the unused and unsafe dam on Wednesday.

Company officials say that it’s really just the beginning of a time consuming project but they hope to have most, if not everything, completed by the end of March.

While the dam is being removed, county officials are urging people to stay off of the ice upstream as it’s now unsafe due to the drop in the water level.
