CHARLES CITY- Floyd County resident Wendy Johnson didn’t always want to be a farmer. Johnson says she grew up as a farm girl, but never had plans to be a farmer. For 18 years Johnson traveled and lived in many locations, however, a strong connection to family led her back to Iowa.
Johnson is featured on the cover of The Iowan magazine, as a “woman in agriculture.” She says as a beginning farmer, it is an honor to be featured with many other great women.
Johnson has been farming with her father for three years. She says as she becomes more accustomed to farming, she would like to implement more conservation methods.
Johnson says the hardest part of being a farmer is finding balance.
The article featuring Johnson’s interview as a “woman in agriculture” is in the March/ April issue of The Iowan magazine.
