Supervisors Support Fuel Tax

CHARLES CITY- Floyd and Chickasaw County supervisors took action at a local level this week in support of the fuel tax.  Supervisors for both counties signed a resolution in support of the state legislature increasing the state fuel tax. Road builders, contractors and their allies have been pushing for a ten cent gas tax increase for years says Engineer Dusty Rolando.

According to Rolando, a gas tax would allow for the repair of local roads and bridges.  Supervisor Roy Schwickerath says support of the tax would provide income to rural Iowa.

Supervisors also plan on forwarding the resolution of support to state representatives.   Last year, those in favor of the gas tax gathered at the Statehouse in a public push for an increase.
