AMES, IA – Live Healthy Iowa’s 13th annual 10 Week Wellness Challenge wraps us this week with over 28,000 Iowans taking part. This challenge, designed to instill healthy lifestyle change, allows participants to track their minutes of activity and/or weight loss while in friendly competition with other teams across Iowa. Throughout April, Live Healthy Iowa will celebrate the conclusion of the challenge with the Dream Team finale meeting and inaugural statewide Live Healthy Iowa 5K.
“Healthy lifestyle change does not happen overnight and the 10 Week Wellness Challenge allows Iowans to hold each other accountable and motivate one another to make healthy choices,” says Emily Bisbee, Live Healthy Iowa coordinator, “we are excited to offer opportunities for Iowans to come together to celebrate their wellness journey.”
The Dream Team, made up of five members from across the state, were selected to share their 10 Week Wellness Challenge journey with other Iowans through social media and weekly challenge emails. The Dream Team will celebrate the challenge finale on Saturday, April 5 at Prairie Trail Hy-Vee in Ankeny and Climb Iowa in Grimes. All media are invited to attend the event.
Iowans have the opportunity to participate in the inaugural Live Healthy Iowa 5K run/walk and 1K kid’s run held in 10 communities on Saturday, April 12.
