Rudd Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Neglect

Mason City, IA – 54 year old Debra Ihrig of Rudd has pleaded not guilty to allegedly abandoning the residents she was supposed to be supervising at a Mason City assisted living center.

She was arrested by sheriff deputies in Cerro Gordo County on April 6 after she allegedly left residents at County Meadow Place Assisted Living alone from 1:15 to 6:10 a.m. on a Saturday.

Fifteen residents were in the facility at the time and she was the only staff person on duty during the night.

Ihrig was charged with six counts of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person, each a Class C felony; nine counts of wanton neglect of a dependent adult, each count a serious misdemeanor, and third degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor.

A jury trial as been set for 1:30 p.m. June 10 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
