New Hampton, IA – It’s been confirmed that the local police were called to New Hampton School during the afternoon of March 24th. New Hampton Police Chief Mike Anderson said there was virtually no information that could be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing:
School Superintendant Jay Jurrens released a statement on Thurs that says:
The New Hampton Community School District is committed to the safety of all of its students. The District has defined policies and procedures in place to deal with any incident that may occur within the school. These procedures include immediate referral to local law enforcement agencies when any type of serious incident occurs.
The New Hampton Community School District is committed to enforcing all policies and
regulations to protect the students in our district. This commitment starts with the school board and continues through every employee of the district from the superintendent to the administrators, teachers and every member of the district’s support staff.
The press release also said that State and Federal laws prohibit the school from discussing any details of student related incidents with anyone.
