County Seeks Community Minded Volunteers to Serve

The Floyd Co Board of Supervisors is currently taking applications for various boards and commission appointments. Floyd County Supervisor says its a great opportunity for area citizens to serve their community:

They are actively seeking board members for the The Veteran Affairs Commission which has 5 members who provide guidance and oversee operations of the Veteran Affairs Office and the The Conservation Board which is made up of 5 members who guide and oversee operations of the county Conservation Dept. They are always accepting applications for any of the following boards and will review applications as positions become open.

The Area Development Corporation has 4 members that provide guidance on economic development opportunities

The Board of Adjustment has 5 members who review county zoning ordinances and hear requests for variances or special exceptions to the ordinance.

The Civil Service Commission has 3 members who oversee examinations, promotions and discipline issues regarding the Deputy Sheriffs.

The Compensation Board for Condemnation of Private Property is a 28 member commission that assesses damages to property taken by eminent domain.


The Board of Health has 5 members who guide and oversee the County Dept of Public Health.

The Floyd County Memorial Hospital Commission is made up of 5 members who provide guidance to the operations of the hospital.

The Magistrate Appointing Commission has 3 members who consider magistrate judicial appointments

The North Cedar Aviation Authority is a 3 member commission to provide guidance to airport

The North Iowa Regional Housing Authority Commission is and 8 member/8 county organization designed to establish policies, long term goals and budgets. They employ an executive director to manage daily operations.


The Planning and Zoning Commission is made up of 5 members who review and enforce the county zoning ordinance and propose changes as needed.
