Charles City Moves forward with Comprehensive Plan

CHARLES CITY, IA – City Council is moving forward on developing a comprehensive plan for Charles City

Myrtle Nelson is a senior planner with NIACOG and attended the recent council meeting to make preliminary recommendations and begin the process. She explains just what a comprehensive city plan is:

Trudy O’Donnell is the City Clerk of Charles City and says the council had been discussing a new plan for quite awhile and it just seemed like the right time, and a way to kill 2 birds with one stone:

According to Nelson having a comprehensive plan is not just a benefit to the local government but an important tool for the community to access as well:

Charles City has not had an update to their comprehensive plan since 2002 and according to Nelson the new plan will talk about one year to complete.
