CHARLES CITY, IA – The County Communications Board met in Charles City Thurs night and one of the items on the agenda was regarding the Code Red plan, commonly known as “reverse 911”. The County has been paying the Code Red Service for several  years but a new plan is available for free through the state. Kieth Starr is the board representative for the city of Charles City and says it’s good to have this sort of plan in place and the change just makes sense:

It was noted that when the new system is in place it is likely that anyone who wants to receive notifications will need to sign up, since it is unlikely the data base will transfer over. And on the plus side, if you currently receive notifications and don’ t want to, those will just stop when the new service goes online.
