Former Pella Band Teacher Pleads Guilty In Sex Abuse Case Involving CC Minor

Charles City, Iowa – A former Pella High School band teacher accused of having sex with a Charles City minor has pleaded guilty.

According to KIMT-TV, 32-year-old Benjamin Thompson entered a written plea of guilty Monday in Floyd County District Court.

Court documents say he’s been charged with three counts of 3rd degree sexual abuse and authorities say he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Charles City girl in May and July of 2011.

No sentencing date has been set.

Thompson, who was the assistant band director at Pella High School, is also facing charges of sexual exploitation by a school employee in Marion County. A hearing on those charges is set for April 5.
