Osage, Iowa – The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office said that an inmate that escaped the Beje Clark Residential Center in Mason City on February 26th has been captured and could be facing more charges.

23-year-old Nicholas Lenz was found on Monday and hauled to jail. He was placed in the Beje Clark center after pleading guilty to operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent for an incident that began in Chickasaw County in August, 2015. He was apprehended after running into a corn field in Mitchell County.

Authorities say when Lenz was arrested, they also seized evidence linking him to several burglaries and motor vehicle thefts that happened in Mitchell County between March 5th and 6th.

A female that was with Lenz could have also been held against her will. She was taken to the Mitchell County Regional Health Center for evaluation and later transferred to a hospital in Rochester.

Lenz is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail while the investigation continues in Mitchell County.
