Gloria Vae Mills, age 91, of Osage, died Friday April 22, 2016, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage with Pastor Julie Schubert officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery in Osage. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at the church.
Gloria was born June 17, 1924, in Little Cedar, IA, the daughter of Ross and Violet (Hultman) Decker.
She graduated from Little Cedar High School in 1941 and Hamilton Business College of Mason City in 1942. Gloria worked for the Co-op Oil Co. as Bookkeeper and Office Manager for 48 years. Gloria was united in marriage to Wayne Mills on June 14, 1958, at the St. Ansgar United Methodist Church.
Gloria was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage where she was a member of the Naomi Circle.
Gloria was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was a Ladies Bowling League member for over 50 years, and she volunteered with the Precisionaires Drum and Bugle Corp. She enjoyed playing 500, crossword puzzles and reading, and was a fan of the Minnesota Twins and Iowa Hawkeyes. Gloria also enjoyed going out for evening meals with friends and family.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Wayne Mills of Osage; her son Kevin (Roxanne) Mills of Waverly, her daughter Lori (Tom) Murphy-Stokes of Cedar Falls, and her son Kurt (Susie) Mills of Osage; five grandchildren, Travis, (25), (Courtney) Mills of Niceville, FL; Robert, (24), Mills of Waverly; Taylor, (23) ( Dylan) Nash of Ames; Emily, (21), Murphy of Cedar Falls; and Ryan, (20), Mills, of Iowa City.
Gloria is preceded by her parents.
