The Northeast Iowa Conference girls golf tournament was washed out yesterday.  They have now rescheduled the meet to take place today in Waverly starting at 10am.  The Nashua-Plainfield and Rockford boys and girls track teams also had their competition at Northwood Kensett rained out, they will not make up that meet as the State Qualifying Meets take place this Thursday.

The Top of Iowa Conference was able to get their boys and girls conference meets in yesterday despite the questionable weather.  The boys division was held at the Nashua Town and Country Club and featured area schools Nashua, Osage, North Butler, Rockford and Saint Ansgar.  Mason City Newman Catholic took home first place in the boys division as they finished with a team score of 329, Saint Ansgar was not far behind as they turned in a 335 as a team.  Osage was third with a 349, North Butler was fourth with a 356, Nashua finished fifth with a 357 and Rockford came in eighth place with a team score of 373.  Individually, Ben Ball of Newman was the medalist with an 18-hole score of 78, his teammate Austin Eckenrod won the playoff against Devin Koob of Nashua-Plainfield for second place after they each shot rounds of 79.  Ben Boerjan and Colin Salz of Saint Ansgar each shot an 81 to tie for fourth place, their teammate Dylan Low shot an 83 to finish in sixth place, Drew Olson of Osage, Zach Bond of Nashua-Plainfield, and Michael DeBerg of North Butler also finished in the top ten as they all tied for seventh at 85, Rockford’s best score was turned in by Zack Westendorf who shot an 86.  In the girls division, which was held at the Pioneer Town and Country Club in Manly, Newman Catholic was crowned champions as they finished with a team score of 406, Osage was right behind them in second with a 409, Rockford finished fourth with a 441, Nashua-Plainfield claimed fifth with a 458, Saint Ansgar got seventh with a 523 and North Butler rounded out the area team standings with an eight place finish as they shot 524 as a team.  Osage’s Courtney Tusler was the Top of Iowa Conference meet medalist as she turned in an 18-hole score of 87, Michaela Krull of Rockford tied for third individually after her round of 94, Kelsey Poppe of Nashua-Plainfield finished in 10th place with a score of 105, Alex Patterson led Saint Ansgar with a 111, and North Butler’s best score was turned in by Laura Kreimeyer who finished with a 120.  All of these boys teams will next be in action on Friday when they compete in Sectionals while the girls teams will wait until Monday for their Regional Tournament.

The Charles City Trapshooting team was in action yesterday as they competed at the Ventura Gun Club.  Charles City 1 took third place at the meet with a team score of 221 which was just 6 targets away from the winning team Cedar Falls who shot a 227.  Brenden Kvernevig, Jacob Greenzweig, and Dan Swartzrock all finished in the top ten individually on the boys side as Kvernevig and Greenzweig were in a tie for fifth with scores of 47 while Swartzrock shot a 46 and tied for ninth.  Charles City had five girls finish in the top ten of that division including Rebecca Tierney who shot a 45 to finish in first place, Sydney North had a 43 and took second, Bailee Bortz and Izzy Worrall each had rounds of 38 to tie for fifth and Ciana Sonberg shot a 35 to tie for tenth.  The Charles City trapshooters will be back in action on Saturday in Osage.
