The Charles City Comet softball team was in Iowa City over the weekend competing in a tournament for their final regular season games.  The Comets went 2-2 at the tournament as they beat Davenport North 4-2 and Waterloo East 7-2 and lost to West Des Moines Valley 7-1 and West Liberty 7-1.  The Comet softball team concludes their regular season with a record of 22-10 and will now focus their attention on Regionals.  Charles City will have a first round bye in the Class 4A Region 3 tournament and will play the winner of Mason City and Decorah on Saturday night.

The Charles City Comet baseball team was swept on Friday night in a Northeast Iowa Conference double header at New Hampton.  The Comets lost to the NEIC Champions 8-7 in game one and then dropped game two 12-0 in five innings.  The Charles City baseball team is now 7-14 overall this season and they fell to 4-10 in the NEIC.  The Comets will host Oelwein tonight in a conference double-header.  You can tune into those games right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at 5:15 with first pitch of the first game scheduled for 5:30.

The Class 1A and 2A Regional Softball Tournaments will begin tonight with first round action scheduled all over the state.  The Nashua-Plainfield Husky softball team will take on Clarksville tonight in a Class 1A Region 3 match-up.  The Huskies finished their regular season with a record of 1-21 and they will take on an Indian team who went 15-11 this season.  First pitch from Clarksville is scheduled for 5:30.

The North Butler Bearcat softball team will host a Class 1A Region 3 game tonight against Tripoli.  North Butler finished up their regular season by winning their last thirteen games and come into tonight’s game with an overall record of 23-3.  Tripoli went 1-18 during the regular season.  First pitch from Allison in scheduled for 7pm.

The Rockford Warrior softball team will take part in a Class 1A Region 2 game tonight as they get set to host North Iowa.  The Warriors went 15-10 this season which included two wins over North Iowa who finished the regular season with a record of 8-14.  First pitch from Rockford will be at 5:30 tonight.

The Saint Ansgar Saints softball team will take part in a Class 2A Region 4 game tonight at home against Lake Mills.  The Saints come in with a record of 15-13 while Lake Mills went 10-17.  First pitch in Saint Ansgar tonight is scheduled for 7pm.
