Funeral Announcement

Diana Lee Jaeger Temple Engelhardt, 75, of Charles City, passed away Sunday July 24, 2016 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A celebration of her life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Janet Dorenkamp (Hospice of North Iowa Chaplain) officiating a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service.

Diana was born May 16, 1941 in Charles City, IA to Lester G. and Nina E. (Phillips) Jaeger, the youngest of six children and passed from this life on July 24, 2016, after a yearlong battle with lung cancer/neuroendocrine tumors. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1958. On June 15, 1960, she married Larry Gene Temple and had three children: Tamara Renee, Timothy Ray and Troy Randall. Larry preceded her in death in April of 1982. She married Jerry Engelhardt, Sr. on August 7, 1985. Diana was employed at Salsbury Laboratories/Wyeth/Pfizer as a Bio Tech Operator for 23 years until her retirement in December of 2002.

Diana enjoyed camping, crocheting, going for car rides and she rarely missed a Figure 8 race, rooting for the local drivers and especially Larry’s grandson, Devon Ackerson. She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s events and was even able to go to one of her great-grandson, Damon’s, Little League games this year. Her passion was painting; just about every picture in her house was one that she had painted. She enjoyed living on the acreage and watching wildlife, especially birds; cardinals were her favorite. She is also survived by her four legged family: Cassie, Chet and Char.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Larry Temple and Jerry Engelhardt, Sr.; brothers: Dale Jaeger Sr. and Wayne Jaeger; sisters: Jane Huxohl, Karen Oltjenbruns and Lois (in infancy); granddaughter: Vanessa Renee Clay Temple (in infancy); brothers-in-law: Carlisle Huxohl, William “Bill” Temple, Dewey Bennett and Wally Stiles; sisters-in-law: Judy (Engelhardt) Harrington and Shirley (Brown) Temple.

She is survived by her children: Tamara “Tammie” Temple Wessels (Bob Boyd) of Charles City, Timothy “Tim” Temple (Angelia Ford) of Phoenix, AZ, Troy Temple (Tonia) of Charles City; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christopher Temple (Shana Fiser) of Charles City and his son Damon of Mason City, Tonia Temple (Thim Keobouaravath) of Jackson, MN and children: Makaden, Ryder and Braxton, Michael Foster of Charles City, Joshua Wessels of Charles City, Riley Wessels of Charles City, Taylor Temple of Jefferson, Victoria Temple of Phoenix, AZ and Tank Temple of Colorado Springs, CO; Larry’s daughter, Lori Droste of Nashua and her sons: Devon (Chelsea Majewski) Ackerson and their children: Ari and Braxton of Nashua, Caleb (Cheyanne Sansgard) Ackerson and their daughter Camri of Charles City. She also considered as her family: Jerry (Karla) Engelhardt of Marble Rock and their family; Sheila Benson and her family of Osage; Scott (Sue) Engelhardt and their family of Osage; and Julie (Don) Hase and their family of Osage; sisters-in-law: Barbara Jaeger of Mankato, MN, Mary Ann Stiles of Charles City; Frances Wilson of Miami, OK; Sharon Jaeger of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.
