Charles City, Iowa – Waterloo police say they have been receiving several reports of suspicious door to door salespeople recently. They say there is a group of illegal salespeople around the area attempting to sell magazines.

According to a report on KWWL news, the reports say people have complained about how the salespeople have been knocking at the door and have been “rude, pushy or just generally suspicious.”

Police say for the salespeople to be legitimate they need to have a peddlers license and an identification card with them.

Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson reminds local residents to stay cautious about people coming to the door who are unexpected. He also talked about on-going phone scams in the area.

Anyone receiving unwelcome sales people or phone scams are asked to call the Charles City Police Department at 641-228-3366.
