Week two of the Iowa High School football season is in the books, here is how our area teams fared last Friday night.  In a game heard right here on KCHA, the Charles City Comet football team fell to Osage in Osage 19-13.  The Comets drop to 0-2 on the season and will open up District play at home this Friday against South Tama.  The Green Devils even up their record at 1-1 and will start District action on the road on Friday at Clarion-Goldfield.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team came up short on Friday night against seventh ranked Hudson 22-7 on the road.  Nashua’s record is now 1-1 on the season and they will have their District opener this Friday at home against top-ranked Saint Ansgar.

The North Butler Bearcat football team lost for the first time this season on Friday night as they were beaten by GMG Garwin on the road 20-12.  The Bearcats are now 1-1 this season and they will open up District play this Friday night at home against West Hancock.

The Rockford Warrior football team failed to get into the win column for the second straight week as they lost at home to North Union 29-8 on Friday night.  The Warriors drop to 0-2 on the season and will have their first District contest this Friday at Grundy Center.

The top-ranked Saint Ansgar Saints football team won over South Winneshiek on Friday night at home 30-20.  The Saints improve to 2-0 this season and will have their first District test in three days at Nashua-Plainfield.

The Charles City Comet volleyball team will open up Northeast Iowa Conference play tonight against Decorah.  It will also be the first home match of the season for the Comets who come into tonight’s match at 3-2 this season.  Decorah comes in with a record of 1-1.  You can tune into this match right here on KCHA starting with the Mills Incorporated pregame at about 7:15 and first serve is scheduled for 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky volleyball team will be in a Top of Iowa Conference match-up tonight at Central Springs.  The Huskies are 2-2 overall this season and come in at 2-1 in conference matches while Central Springs is 2-1 both overall and in the conference.  First serve is scheduled for 7:30.

The Saint Ansgar Saints volleyball team will host a Top of Iowa Conference match-up against North Butler tonight.  The Saints, who are coming off of a 1-2 showing at the New Hampton tournament on Saturday are 2-4 overall this season and 0-2 in conference play.  North Butler is 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.  First serve from Saint Ansgar is scheduled for 7:30.

The Rockford Warrior volleyball team will hit the road tonight for a Top of Iowa Conference meet with Northwood-Kensett.  The Warriors are 1-2 overall this season and 0-2 in the conference while Northwood-Kensett sits at 3-1 and 2-1.  First serve for this one is also scheduled for 7:30.

There will be a few boys and girls cross country teams in Waverly tonight for a meet hosted by the Go-Hawks.  Charles City, Nashua-Plainfield, New Hampton and North Butler’s boys and girls will all compete in this meet which will be split into four different races for both the boys and the girls as each race will feature only one grade level.  The meet will begin with the ninth grade girls at 4:50 and finish up with the twelfth grade boys at about 6:55.
