The Charles City Comet volleyball team was able to pick up two non-conference victories last night in Clear Lake.  The Comets beat Mason City in their first match two games to none by scores of 25-13 and 25-14.  In that match, Sara Martin and Tayler Schmidt each had four kills, Sydney Loeckle had 11 assists and two ace serves, and Katie Foster had eight digs.  Charles City then took care of Clear Lake two games to none by scores of 25-13 and 25-14.  In that match, Schmidt had eight kills, Loeckle had 13 assists and Foster had 14 digs.  The two wins gives the Comet volleyball team a record of 7-2 and they will next be in action on Tuesday in Cresco.

The Osage Green Devil volleyball team went into Allison last night and swept the North Butler Bearcats in Top of Iowa Conference action three games to none by scores of 25-11, 25-19 and 25-18.  The Green Devils improve to 4-0 overall and in conference play while the Bearcats fall to 3-7 and 0-4.  Osage will host a tournament tomorrow for their next action and North Butler will head to Belmond tomorrow for a tournament.

The Rockford Warrior volleyball team was able to secure their first Top of Iowa Conference win of the season as they Warriors swept Mason City Newman at home three games to none by scores of 25-11, 25-19 and 25-23.  Rockford volleyball is now 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference.  The Warriors will be in action again tomorrow as they will take part in a tournament hosted by Central Springs.

The Charles City Comet boys and girls cross country teams were in Waverly last night for a coed meet that was split into individual grade levels.  Head Comet boys cross country coach Ryan Rawmiller lets us know how the Comet boys did.

It could be a soggy night tonight for our area football teams for their week three match-ups.  The Charles City Comet football team will host South Tama tonight for the District opener.  The Comets come in at 0-2 this season while South Tama is 1-1.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at 7pm and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team will host top-ranked Saint Ansgar tonight.  The Huskies are 1-1 this season while the Saints are 2-0.  Kickoff will be at 7pm.

The Osage Green Devil football team will be on the road for their District opener tonight as they will be at Clarion-Goldfield.  The Huskies come in with a record of 1-1 while Clarion is 2-0 and is ranked sixth in Class 2A.  You can tune into this game on our sister station 987 KISS Country starting with a pregame at about 7:15 and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.

The North Butler Bearcat football team will have their first home game of the season tonight as they open up District play against West Hancock.  The Bearcats are 1-1 this season as is West Hancock.  Kickoff will be at 7pm.

The Rockford Warrior football team is looking for their first win tonight as they will be at Grundy Center.  The Warriors went 0-2 in non-district play while Grundy Center comes in at 1-1.  Kickoff will be at 7pm.

And finally today, the biggest college football game in Iowa will take place as the Iowa Hawkeyes will host the Iowa State Cyclones.  You can tune into the big game right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at 4:30.  Kickoff will be at 6:30.
