Malfunction to blame for Charles City power outage Sunday

Charles City, Iowa – An equipment malfunction on Sunday afternoon resulted in close to 1,200 people losing power in Charles City.

Ashton Hockman with MidAmerican Energy said the outage began at 4:29pm and affected 1,196 customers. The outage was due to an issue with a piece of equipment on a power line.

Power was restored to 879 customers at 6:08pm with the remaining customers being restored at 7:17pm.
