MidAmerican Energy Responds to Flooding in Charles City

Charles City, Iowa – MidAmerican Energy Company is working with emergency management officials to respond to flooding that is occurring in Charles City.

As a result of potential flooding, MidAmerican Energy crews have been shutting off natural gas and electric services to properties that could be affected. This action will help ensure the safety of our customers and reduce the amount of damage to natural gas equipment in the event that flooding occurs.

Residential, industrial and commercial customers who reside in the affected area will receive a phone call from MidAmerican Energy notifying them that their service will be turned off. When the flooding event is over, MidAmerican Energy will provide a follow up call to customers to let them know when natural gas service will be restored.

MidAmerican Energy does not charge customers to shut off or restart services when there is flooding. Some properties that have flooded will need to be inspected before service can be restored.
