Iowa judge accused of assaulting husband takes plea deal

Manchester, Iowa (AP) – An eastern Iowa judge accused of assaulting her husband has taken a plea deal.

49-year-old Stephanie Rattenborg, of Manchester, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, loud and raucous noise. She’d pleaded not guilty to the original charge of domestic assault.

Rattenborg was given a deferred judgment at her sentencing last week. Under a deferred judgment, the conviction will be expunged if she abides by her probation provisions for a year.

Court documents say Randall Rattenborg told an officer June 24 that his wife threw a water bottle at him and began hitting him because she’d learned he was having an extramarital affair. She admitted throwing the bottle but denied hitting him

She’s an associate judge for Iowa’s 1st Judicial District, which covers northeast Iowa.
