Elsie was born August 7, 1917, at Grafton, Iowa, the daughter of Emma (Glauvitz) and John Bork, Sr. She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Carl Landdeck. For many years, Elsie taught Sunday School, Bible School, served on the Altar Guild, and was also a member of the Ruth Circle. She was a graduate of Grafton High School. After graduation, she worked in the Dalluge Produce for several years, followed by many years in both local Grafton cafes, serving the community for over 50 years. In 1948, Elsie was married to George Kline by Rev. S.M. Becker at First Lutheran Church in Waterloo. They had one daughter, Lynn Marie. Elsie enjoyed playing “500” card games, quilting, and loved all types of music. She was a big Iowa Hawkeye fan for many years. She liked to cook and was famous for her homemade cream pies. Even though Elsie was a “long distance” Grandma, she was always interested in what her grandchildren were doing in school and sports.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Gene) Bryant of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Gobble of Norman, Oklahoma, and Luke Bryant of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Cadence and Channing Gobble, and Landon Bryant; sister, Genevieve Furness of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Kline in 1997; brothers, Edwin Bork, John Bork, Jr., Clarence Bork, Arthur Bork, Walter Bork and Roy Bork; sisters, Laura Krueger, Esther Anderson, Myrtle Rappath, Verna Schlotterback, Wilma Graffin, Ruth Dalluge, Malinda Bartz and Irene Hartwig.
