Charles City Singers Presenting Musical Journey On Saturday

Charles City, Iowa – The Charles City Singers has a new director. Scott Blackenbaker of Charles City took over the helm this fall and is preparing his group for their December concert.

The choir is in its 42nd season. Blackenbaker explains.

Blackenbaker has been a resident of Charles City for six years and teaches music at Riverland Community College in Austin.

Blackenbaker talked about some changes he has made as the new director of the Charles City Singers.

Blackenbaker said the Singers in the past have performed two concerts a year, but the group is looking for a bigger outreach under his direction.

A concert is slated for this Saturday, December 3rd. Blackenbaker said it’s a musical journey of sorts.

Blackenbaker said the group will continue with the theme of “journeys” in future concerts.

Blackenbaker said the group is always welcoming new participants.

Tickets are available for Saturday’s concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. Tickets can be purchased from First Security Bank or First Citizens Bank.
