Wednesday event will honor 75th anniversary of attack on Pearl Harbor

Charles City, Iowa – A special event to honor the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor will be held on Wednesday, December 7th, beginning at 6:30 p.m at 500 N. Grand Avenue Auditorium in Charles City.

Organizer Christopher Anthony talks about the event.

Anthony said Francis Riley from Cedar Rapids, a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack will be present at the tribute.

Charles City school students will have displays they have made on hand depicting the battle, and many area organizations have been involved in planning the event.

Anthony said he has created a facebook page honoring the 75th anniversary of the attack and has been posting a lot of interesting facts about the event.

Anthony explained why he decided to spearhead the event in Charles City.

Anthony said he is hoping for a large group of World War II veterans will attend the event.

Anthony talked about how many Iowans were involved in World War II.

The public is invited to attend the event, again scheduled for Wednesday, December 7th, 6:30 p.m. at 500 N. Grand Avenue Auditorium, formerly the Charles City Middle School.
