The Charles City Comet wrestling team opened up its Northeast Iowa Conference season last night in Waverly.  The Comets went down to the Class 3A powerhouse by a final of 52-18.  The Comet wrestling team is now 2-1 overall in dual matches this season and they begin the NEIC season at 0-1.  Charles City’s grapplers will head to a tournament tomorrow hosted by Western Dubuque.

 

The Charles City Comet boys basketball team will open up Northeast Iowa Conference play tonight at Crestwood.  The Comets come into the game with a record of 3-0 while Crestwood is 1-2 on the season.  Tip-off for the Varsity game will be at about 7:30.

The Charles City Comet girls basketball team will also take on Crestwood tonight in Northeast Iowa Conference action.  The Comet girls are 0-4 this season and 0-1 in the NEIC and will host the Cadet girls who are 4-0 and 1-0.  The Varsity game will begin at about 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls and boys basketball teams will host Central Springs tonight in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The Nashua girls will be looking for their first win as they come in at 0-5 overall and they are 0-3 in the conference.  Central Springs’ girls are 3-1 and 2-1.  The Husky boys are 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play while the Central Springs boys are 0-4 and 0-3.  The girls game will be played first and tip-off at about 6:15 with the boys game to follow.

The North Butler Bearcat girls and boys basketball teams will host Saint Ansgar tonight in a Top of Iowa Conference double-header.  The Bearcat girls are 1-3 overall this season and are 1-2 in the conference while the Saints girls come in at 0-2 both overall and in league play.  The North Butler boys have an overall record of 2-2 and they are 2-1 in the conference while Saint Ansgar’s boys sit at 0-4 and 0-3.  The girls game will be played first at about 6:15 and then the boys will play.

The Rockford Warrior girls and boys basketball teams will be in Top of Iowa Conference action tonight as well as they will be on the road at Northwood-Kensett.  The Warrior girls are undefeated so far this season as they are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.  The Northwood girls come in at 2-5 and 1-2.  The Rockford boys have an overall record of 3-1 and they are 2-1 in conference games while the Vikings are 0-4 and 0-3.  The girls game will tip-off at about 6:15 with the boys game to follow.
