Basketball With Dark Background On A Wood Gym Floor

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky boys basketball team hosted Saint Ansgar last night in a Top of Iowa Conference match-up.  It was all tied after one quarter of play, but Saint Ansgar pulled away from there as they beat the Huskies 61-43.  Ryan Peterson led the Saints with 14 points, Ben Boerjan had 12 and Collin Kramer finished with 11 for Saint Ansgar.  With the win, the Saint boys improve to 3-2 overall and they are now 3-1 in the conference.  Nashua’s boys drop to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.  The Saint Ansgar boys will play again on Friday night at home against West Fork while Nashua will be at Osage on Friday for their next game.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls basketball team also hosted Saint Ansgar last night in Top of Iowa Conference action.  Saint Ansgar would hold a 12 point lead at halftime, but the Huskies came storming back in the second half to secure their first victory of the season as they won the game 42-40.  Saint Ansgar’s Elizabeth Jenkins had a triple-double last night as she finished with 18 points, 19 rebounds and 11 blocked shots.  With the win, Nashua’s girls are now 1-6 overall this season and they move to 1-4 in conference play while the Saints girls fall to 1-4 and 0-4.  The Husky girls will be in action again on Friday at Osage and Saint Ansgar will be at home against West Fork on Friday as well.
