Santa House change announced for this weekend

Charles City, Iowa – With dangerously cold wind chills forecast for this weekend, Santa’s final appearance at the Charles City Santa House in Central Park Dec. 17 and 18 is being changed to the Community Development office next door at 401 North Main St.

“We certainly don’t want anyone waiting outside to see Santa when it is that cold,” said Community Development Director Mark Wicks, who oversees the local Santa House operation. “By moving it across the street to our office there is plenty of room inside for everyone if there is a wait.”

Santa will be available to hear children’s holiday wishes from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, and again from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18. This will be the last chance to visit with Santa this year through the Santa House. There is no admission charge and all children through grade school age are welcome. Photographer Andy Laube will be on hand Saturday to take photos of your youngsters visiting with Santa for those interested.

This year’s Santa House was made possible by sponsors CUSB Bank, First Security Bank & Trust, Hy-Vee, The Family Community Credit Union, Andy Laube Photography and State Bank.
