Charles City, Iowa – The weather is going to get messy beginning this morning as a weather system moves across the area.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse, WI has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the area which goes into effect at 6am and will go through 9pm tonight.

Snow will overspread the area this morning and continue through the evening with 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulations possible. The heaviest snowfall rates will occur between noon and 6pm today. Some freezing drizzle with a light glaze of ice is also possible by tonight after the snowfall.

Forecasters say that travel will become difficult throughout the day into tonight, including the morning and evening commutes.

Those with travel plans should expect winter driving conditions and allow extra time to reach your destinations.
