Funeral Announcement

LeVern “Vern” Mullinex, 65, of Charles City, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A memorial service for Vern Mullinex will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Wendy Johannesen from Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd officiating.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service on Thursday.

LeVern Theron Mullinex was born September 28, 1951 in Vinton, Iowa to Thurley and Viola (Bonesteel) Mullinex. He graduated from Vinton High School in 1969. Vern joined the United States Air Force in 1971 and proudly served his country until 1976 when he was honorably discharged.

Vern was a member of the Grace Community Church in Shellsburg. He loved to fish, grow tomatoes and spend time with his dog, Tigger.

Vern is survived by his wife, Karen Funte; children: Brian (Allie) Mullinex and Angela Mullinex both of Merrimac, Wisconsin; Jason, Jon (Stacy) and Jamie (Rhiannon) Funte all of Charles City; his grandchildren: Gillian and Charlie Mullinex of Merrimac, Ashton Hahn, Dustyn Kabele and Jaymee and Ayden Engelhardt all of Charles City; one brother, Bill (Linda) Mullinex of Marion; one nephew, Mike Mullinex of Waukee; and one niece, Carly Nading of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurley and Viola Mullinex.
