KCHA Sports Report (1/3)

The second half of the high school winter sports season begins tonight with numerous area events on the calendar.  The Charles City Comet boys basketball team will have their toughest test tonight as they look to stay unbeaten against top-rated Waverly-Shell Rock at home.  The Comet boys are 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast Iowa Conference while the Go-Hawks come in at 7-0 and 4-0.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at about 7:20 and tip-off is scheduled for around 7:30.

The Charles City Comet girls basketball team will also have a tall order tonight as they will travel to Waverly to face a ranked Go-Hawks team.  The Comet girls will be looking for their first win tonight as they are 0-7 overall and 0-3 in Northeast Iowa Conference games while the Waverly girls are 6-3 and 4-0.  Tip-off for this game will be around 7:30.

The Osage Green Devil girls and boy basketball teams will host Rockford tonight in a Top of Iowa Conference girl/boy double-header.  The Osage girls are 5-1 overall and they are 4-1 in conference games while the Rockford girls come in unbeaten at 8-0 overall and they are 6-0 in the conference.  The Osage boys come in to tonight’s game a perfect 6-0 overall and they are 5-0 in conference play while Rockford’s boys are 6-2 overall and 4-2 in Top of Iowa Conference play.  The girls game will tip-off first at about 6:15 and the boys game will follow.

The North Butler Bearcat girls and boys basketball teams will host West Fork tonight in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The North Butler girls come in at 3-4 overall and they are 3-3 in the conference while West Fork’s girls are 5-2 and 4-1.  The North Butler boys have an overall record of 3-4 and they are 3-3 in league play while The War-Hawk boys are 5-2 and 4-1.  The girls game will be played first at about 6:15 and the boys game will tip-off at about 7:30.

The Saint Ansgar Saints girls and boys basketball teams will be at home tonight for a Top of Iowa Conference double-header against Northwood-Kensett.  The Saint Ansgar girls are 1-6 overall this season and they have a conference record of 0-5 while the Viking girls are 3-6 and 1-5.  The Saints boys are 4-3 overall and come in at 4-1 in conference play while Northwood’s boys are 1-7 and 0-6.  The girls game will tip-off at about 6:15 with the boys game to follow.

The Nashua-Plainfield and Saint Ansgar wrestling teams will be in Forest City tonight for a triangular meet.  The first matches will begin at 6:00.
