With no activities on the local sports calendar last night, we begin today’s report with a check of what is going on with our area winter sports teams tonight.  The Charles City Comet wrestling team will begin their second half the season tonight with a Northeast Iowa Conference dual meet at home against Oelwein.  The Comet grapplers come in with an overall dual meet record of 5-9 and they are 0-2 in NEIC meets.  Oelwein is 11-6 overall and have a conference dual meet record of 1-2.  The meet will take place in the new Comet Gym and you can tune into this match right here on KCHA tonight starting with the pre-match at about 7pm with the meet beginning at about 7:15.

The Charles City Comet girls and boys basketball teams will be at home tonight for a non-conference girl/boy double header against Hampton Dumont.  The Comet girls will be looking for their first win of the season as they sit at 0-8 overall.  The Bulldog girls come into this game with a record of 1-5.  The Comet boys are 6-1 this season while Hampton-Dumont’s boys are 0-6.  These games will be played at the Old Comet Gym inside the High School and will begin with the girls game at about 6:15 with the boys game to follow.

The Nashua-Plainfield and Osage wrestling teams will participate in a quadrangular meet tonight hosted by West Fork.  The fourth team taking part in the meet is Clarksville.  The first matches are scheduled to begin at 6pm.

The North Butler Bearcat and Saint Ansgar Saints wrestling teams will participate in a triangular meet tonight which will be hosted by Central Springs.  The meet will begin at 6pm.
