Basketball With Dark Background On A Wood Gym Floor

The Osage Green Devil boys basketball team was at home last night for a Top of Iowa Conference cross-over game with Hampton Dumont.  The Green Devils dominated the game in route to a 72-42 win.  Drew Olson led the Osage boys with 15 points, Nathan Bushbaum had 12 and Ben Huftalin finished with 11 points.  Last night’s win keeps the Green Devils perfect on the season as they improve to 10-0.  The will put their flawless record on the line again tonight with a Top of Iowa Conference road contest at Mason City Newman Catholic.

The Osage Green Devil girls basketball team also hosted Hampton-Dumont last night.  The Green Devil girls fell behind early and trailed by nine points heading into the fourth quarter.  Osage’s girls put some pressure on the Bulldogs to pull within three, but that would be as close as they got as the Green Devil girls lost the game 46-43.  Brenna Jacobs led the way for Osage as she finished with 12 points, Melanie Bye was also in double figures as she scored 11 points and Rylie Olson finished the game with 12 rebounds.  With the loss, the Green Devils fall to 6-3 overall and they will look to get back on track tomorrow night at Mason City Newman.

The Saint Ansgar Saints girls basketball team was at home last night for a Top of Iowa Conference tilt with West Fork.  The Saints girls played a good War-Hawk team tough, but ultimately lost the game 50-37.  Jadyn Anderson scored 15 points to lead Saint Ansgar and Elizabeth Jenkins added 13.  The Saints girls are now 1-9 overall and 0-8 in the conference.  Their next game will be tonight at Central Springs.

The Saint Ansgar Saints boys basketball team also hosted West Fork last night in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The Saint boys were overmatched by the ranked War-Hawks and fell by a final score of 64-33.  The Saint Ansgar boys fall to 6-3 overall and they drop to 6-2 in conference play.  They will be in action again tonight at Central Springs.

We now move to a check the area winter sports calendar for tonight.  The Charles City Comet boys basketball team will be at New Hampton tonight for a Northeast Iowa Conference tilt with the Chickasaws.  The Comet boys are 8-1 overall on the season and they are 3-1 in conference play while New Hampton comes in at 4-4 and they are 1-2 in the NEIC.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at about 7:15 and tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.

The Charles City Comet girls basketball team will be looking for their first win tonight as they get set to host New Hampton tonight in a Northeast Iowa Conference battle.  The Comet girls come in with an overall record of 0-10 and they are 0-5 in the NEIC while the Chickasaw girls are 7-2 and 3-1.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.

The Rockford Warrior girls and boys basketball teams will host Nashua-Plainfield tonight in a Top of Iowa Conference girl/boy double-header.  The Rockford girls come in unbeaten with an overall record of 11-0 and they are 8-0 in conference play.  The Nashua girls come in at 2-8 overall and they are 1-7 in the conference.  Rockford’s boys are 7-4 overall and 5-3 in conference games and Nashua’s boys are 3-6 and 2-5.  The girls game will tip-off at about 6:15 and the boys game will follow.

The North Butler Bearcat girls and boys basketball teams will have Top of Iowa Conference road games tonight as they prepare to travel to Northwood-Kensett.  The Bearcat girls come in at 3-6 overall and they are 3-4 in league play while the Vikings girls are 4-7 and 2-6.  North Butler’s boys are 3-6 overall this season and they are 3-5 in conference games while Northwood’s boys are 1-9 and 0-8.  The girls game is scheduled to begin at about 6:15 and the boys game will start at about 7:30.
