New Hampton, Iowa – Students at New Hampton Middle School are participating in a Midmester Academy, which offers students elective courses for twelve days with a foundation of problem based learning.

Principal Matt Manson talks about the academy.

Manson said the Middle School staff had worked very hard to come up with courses they feel their students will be passionate about.

Manson said the curriculum for the Midmester Academy was designed by the New Hampton middle school teachers.

Manson said the Midmester Academy will introduce middle school students to the Iowa Big concept, which will be offered to them at the high school level.

The students have been able to choose the classes they want to take within the  Midmester Academy, according to Manson.

A course offering book of the Midmester Academy can be viewed on the school website.

The Midmester Academy, which began on Thursday will run through February 10th.
