Basketball With Dark Background On A Wood Gym Floor

In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet boys basketball team was in Iowa Falls for a non-conference match-up against the Cadets.  The Comets began the game on a 23-0 run and it wasn’t until the second quarter when Iowa Falls scored for the first time.  Charles City’s boys won the game with ease 83-47.  The Comet boys improve to 14-5 overall this season and they will wrap up their conference season tonight at Decorah.

The Nashua-Plainfield boys basketball team was in New Hampton last night for a non-conference bout against the Chickasaws.  The Huskies were overmatched as they dropped the game by a final score of 66-33.  Dayton Hansen had ten points for Nashua which led the team as they finish their season at 6-15 overall.  The Husky boys will begin postseason play on Monday at home against Clarksville.

The North Butler Bearcat girls basketball team saw their season come to a close last night as they were defeated by AGWSR 55-30 in the opening round of the Class 1A Region 3 Tournament.  The Bearcat girls end their season with a 7-12 record.

The North Butler Bearcat boys basketball team blew out Hampton-Dumont last night in Hampton.  The Bearcat boys won by a final score of 57-27 to improve to 7-12 overall this season.  The North Butler boys will cap their season tonight with a Top of Iowa Conference game at Osage.

The Charles City Comet girls basketball team will play their final regular season game tonight at home in Northeast Iowa Conference action against Decorah.  The Comet girls are 1-18 overall this season and they are 1-10 in the NEIC while Decorah sits at 2-18 and 0-11.  Tip-off is scheduled for around 7:30.

The Charles City Comet and Osage Green Devil wrestling teams will compete in a Class 2A District Tournament tomorrow.  The Comets and Green Devils each have eight wrestlers who will be looking to advance to the State Tournament next week.  The Comets will send Wanya Pace at 113 pounds, Carter Proffitt at 126 pounds, Nate Lasher at 132, Dylan Koresh at 145, Alex Koehler at 182, Sam Niichel at 195, A.J. Maloy at 220 and Luke Hillegas at 285.  The Green Devils have Joe Jacob at 106, Nolan Byrnes at 120, Brody Roll at 126, Mitchell Schotanus at 138, Derek Fox at 152, Zach Williams at 160, Brock Jennings at 170, and Caleb Ring at 220.  Their District Meet will take place in Iowa Falls and you can tune into the tournament right here on KCHA starting with a pre-meet at 11:45 and the first matches will be at noon.

The Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler, Rockford and Saint Ansgar wrestling teams will compete in Lake Mills tomorrow for their Class 1A District Tournament.  Nashua has two wrestlers competing at Districts as Brock Dietz at 106 and Jakob Whittinger at 113 will wrestle, North Butler is sending Bryce Trees at 106, Brandon Trees at 152, Dalton Nelson at 160 and Trae Ulrich at 182.  Will Portis at 120, Dakota Vance at 170 and Heath Farr at 195 will represent Rockford and Saint Ansgar will have Devin Steele at 126 and Mitchell Smith at 285 competing.  Their District Meet tomorrow also begins at noon.
