Carriage collision in Mitchell County injures 7, one critically

McIntire, Iowa – An accident that occurred on Sunday evening around 9:40 p.m on County Road A-23 in McIntire in Mitchell County critically injured one person and brought injuries to six other people.

A car driven by 34-year-old Marshall Peters of Toeterville struck an Amish carriage, driven by 47-year-old Ura Petersheim of rural McIntire. Peters was airlifted from the scene by Mayo One and was in critical condition.

Six other passengers in the carriage were transported to Mitchell County Regional Health Center.

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Department Office said the crash is under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol, Howard County Sheriff’s Office, St. Ansgar First Responders, Riceville Ambulance Service and the Osage Ambulance Service all assisted at the scene of the accident.
