Basketball With Dark Background On A Wood Gym Floor

The Osage Green Devils boys basketball team was in Charles City last night taking on New Hampton in a Class 2A District 4 Final.  The Green Devils were in control early both offensively and defensively and went into halftime with a 25-14 lead.  The Chickasaws would answer in the third quarter and came all the way back to tie it at 33 heading into the fourth quarter.  With Osage leading by three with about three minutes to go, the Green Devils forced turnovers on back-to-back possessions and grew their lead to seven.  That lead would hold up as Osage won the game by a final score of 51-42.  Lucas Schwamman had 20 points to lead the Green Devils and Riley Olson had 13.  The Osage boys improve to 22-1 overall this season and will play in Forest City on Saturday in the Sub-State Final against Garner-Hayfield-Ventura.

The Saint Ansgar Saints boys basketball team took on Mason City Newman last night in a Class 1A District 4 Semi-Final in Sheffield.  The Saints were able to break the season series tie with a 58-52 win.  Saint Ansgar improves to 16-7 overall this season and they advance to the District 4 Championship which will be played tomorrow night against West Fork.

Peter Jok scored 35 points, including Iowa’s first 11 points of overtime in a 96-90 win over Indiana as the Hawkeyes snapped a three game losing skid. Jok finished 22 of 23 at the foul line as the teams combined to commit 57 fouls.  The Hawkeye Men’s Basketball Team is now 7-8 in the Big Ten.
