The Saint Ansgar Saints boys basketball team will play for the Class 1A District 4 Final tonight.  The Saints will be in Garner taking on West Fork.  Saints Ansgar’s boys are 16-7 overall this season and the War-Hawks come in with a record of 18-5.  The Saints are 0-2 against West Fork this year as they lost 64-33 on January 9th and lost 52-46 on January 27th.  Tip-off for this game is scheduled for 7pm.

The Northeast Iowa Conference recently released its All-Conference selections in girls basketball and two Comets were honored.  Senior Kelsi Crooks was a second-team selection and sophomore Jodie Sindlinger received Honorable Mention.  Crooks led Charles City in scoring with over eight points a game, and she was fourth in the NEIC in rebounds with just under seven per game.  Sindlinger scored six and a half points per game, grabbed over five rebound per game and was sixth in the conference in blocked shots.

Moving on to some college wrestling news now, Kevin Dresser wants to return the Iowa State wrestling program to greatness. After building the program at Virginia Tech the Humboldt native was introduced as the Cyclones new coach. He takes over a program that has not won a national title since 1987 and has not won a conference crown since 2009.  Dresser says another goal of the program is to beat Iowa and reignite a rivalry with the Hawkeyes that has become one-sided.
