The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office issued an update on the search for a missing Fredericksburg woman:
The Chickasaw County Sheriffs Office has confirmed that Sheila Ludwig was located shortly after 9:00 am Monday. It is with deepest regrets to share that Sheila had already passed when we found her. Our investigation continues at this time, but there is no foul play suspected.
After meeting with the family, they want to pass along their heartfelt gratitude to the 180 volunteers on Sunday and the 120 volunteers that helped locate their loved one on Monday. The sheriffs office is also grateful for everyone who assisted us including Emergency Management Agencies from Chickasaw, Howard, Bremer, Fayette and Winneshiek Counties, The Iowa State Patrol – troopers and fixed wing pilot,Department of Natural Resources, Chickasaw County Conservation, all area Firefighters, rescue and first responders, DCI, drone operators and the numerous volunteers that just showed up to help. We are indebted to all of you.
Fredericksburg, Iowa – The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help in locating a missing woman from Fredericksburg.
67 year old Sheila Ludwig was last seen Friday evening near the Casey’s General Store.
Sheila is described as a white female, 5’5″, 180 lbs, black hair and green eyes. She was last seen wearing dark grey sweatpants, purple crew neck sweatshirt and winter boots.
Sheila is diabetic and insulin dependent.
