National Ag Week: The Role Of The Floyd County Soil & Water District

Charles City, Iowa – National Ag Week is being celebrated this week, and the Floyd County Farm Bureau, along with other agricultural entities in Floyd County, are recognizing the importance of agriculture in the area.

John Giselson, who is the commissioner of the Floyd Soil and Water District, talks about the role the Floyd Soil and Water District plays in protecting our soils and water.

Giselson said there are programs that the Floyd Soil and Water District offer that aid in conservation improvements for the farm operation.

Giselson said every program has different levels of cost-share. He said last year the state contributed 7.5 million dollars and the Iowa farmer contributed 8.7 million dollars to install conservation practices.
