Today is National Blue-Green Day in support of organ donation

Charles City, Iowa – Today marks National Blue – Green Day in honor and in support of organ donation.

Natalie Oakes,  Professional Outreach Coordinator with the Iowa Donor Network, said  anyone can register as an organ, eye or tissue donor.

Oakes said its very important to tell family members about organ donation wishes.

Registering to become a donor is a very simple process, and Oakes said there are several ways in which to register to become an organ donor.

Oakes gave current statistics about people both nationwide and in the state of Iowa who are waiting for  a transplant.
