Floyd County Medical Center welcomes new surgeon

Charles City, Iowa – Floyd County Medical Center has welcomed Dr. Angela VanGilder as the new surgeon. VanGilder officially began her duties last week at the medical facility in Charles City.

An Iowa native, VanGilder is a graduate of the University of Iowa and medical school at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. She followed up with her surgical training in Phoenix, Arizona.

VanGilder said family is what brought she and her husband, along with their two children, back to Iowa. Both her parents and her husband’s parents  live in Des Moines, and she said they want to bring their children up in a smaller community with good values.

VanGilder said she has found everyone at Floyd County Medical Center to be very supportive and accommodating and her plan is to help the hospital grow with her surgical experience.

VanGilder says her approachable demeanor with patients and word of mouth will aid in the growth of surgeries that will be performed at Floyd County Medical Center.

VanGilder said she is very thorough with her patients and sees them both pre-operatively as well as in-patient and follows-up with their care.

A very family-oriented person, VanGilder said her husband, who is her childhood sweetheart, is one of the reason’s for her success.

Dr. VanGilder is now available for patients at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. More information about Floyd County Medical Center is available at fcmc.us.com.
