CCPD invites children to Bicycle Safety Rodeo on Saturday

Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson

Charles City, Iowa – The Charles City Police Department is hosting a Bike Rodeo on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at the former middle school. Chief of Police Hugh Anderson talks about the rodeo and said a few more volunteers would be appreciated.

The rodeo is designed to teach bike safety to youth.

Chief Anderson also said the police department will soon be having two officers on bicycle patrol throughout the warmer months of the year. Several officers are currently in training to become a certified bicycle officer.

Anderson said the bicycles include lights and sirens, just like a squad car.

The bike patrol will be active in the next couple of weeks.
