Chance for severe thunderstorms this afternoon into tonight

Tornado Alley Severe Storm

Charles City, Iowa – After a gorgeous weekend across North Iowa, showers and thunderstorms are expected to make a return this afternoon into tonight and some of them could be strong to severe.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse says the first round of storms is expected mainly between 1pm and 6pm this afternoon with a few storms capable of large hail and damaging winds. A second round of storms will develop later this evening into tonight with another risk for large hail, damaging winds and localized heavy rainfall. There is a very slight tornado risk for tonight as well, especially near the warm front across northern Iowa into far southern Wisconsin.

Forecasters say addition chances for showers and storms will exist Tuesday morning and again Tuesday night through Wednesday evening with a few severe storms possible once again on Wednesday.

Keep it tuned for the latest weather updates.
