FC Relay for Life to be held Friday in Central Park

Charles City, Iowa – Floyd County Relay for Life will take place this Friday, June 2nd beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Central Park in Charles City.

Co-chair Karen Anderson said the evening is full of events, including activities for kids and adults alike.

Music entertainment will also be held during the event.

Local groups including the Drum Line and the Cub Scouts will participate in the flag ceremony.

The survivor ceremony along with the luminary ceremony are the most important aspects of the event, according to Anderson. The survivor ceremony will be led by Mayor Erb, who will read a proclamation followed by a lap which will walked by cancer survivors.

The luminary ceremony will begin at 8:30 p.m. and will honor both those who have died of cancer and those who have survived the disease.

Concessions will be available during the event.  All proceeds from the silent and live auction, as well as donations from team members will be given to the American Cancer Society.
